Poker -the supreme game
Poker is a group of card games. All of them share the same betting rules
and most of the time the same hand rakings. Each game is different based
on the dealing of cards, if the low hand or the high hand wins, the
betting limits and the betting rounds.
Betting on the first round usually begins with a kind of forced best in
the modern forms of poker games. The turn of play then goes in a
clockwise direction. The next player should then fold or equal the
biggest previous bet. Once folded, all further interest in the hand is
lost. On the other hand, the next player can also choose to increase the
bet. A round of betting terminates when each player has either matched
the maximum bet or folded. If all the players fold on their turns
barring one player, that player takes the pot without displaying his
hand. If two or more players have not folded and after all the turns
have finished, the players must show their hands and the winning hand
collects the pot.
One thing different about poker is that apart from the first round of
forced bets, people can voluntarily choose to either place more money
into the pot or not if he feels he can get some return on the bet. Thus,
the probability of winning may rest on chance, but there are other
factors such as psychology and probability that come into play when
making decisions.
Poker has different forms. Most of them follow similar style of play and
usually have the same hierarchy of hand ranking. The three main families
of poker are:
Straight:
In this form of poker, a hand of cards is dealt and forced betting comes
into play in the first round. This is the oldest form of poker and has
taken inspiration from the game Primero. Sometimes, hand of cards form
the straight family of poker can be utilized as a final showdown, but
generally, modern poker uses much more complex forms so that the use of
greater strategy comes into play.
Stud:
Here, cards are dealt with a preplanned mixture of face up and face down
rounds (also known as streets). A betting round then follows. This is
the second oldest form of poker after the straight family. Progressing
from three card hands to five card hands, stud poker uses only one card
at a time which can be face up or face down and a round of betting
happens between each dealing session. Seven card stud, which is the most
played poker game from the stud family, deals 2 more cards and players
must try and make a winning 5 card hand.
Draw: In this form of poker, each player is given a complete hand, all
of which are face down and players are given the liberty to change their
hand by getting rid of certain cards and being given fresh ones.
Community:
This is a variation of the stud family of poker. Face down, incomplete
cards are given to each player and some “community” face-up cards are
placed on the center. Each card can then be taken to form a complete 5
card hand.
